The interior design of the new children’s area at the Morgan Hill Library focuses on creating a vibrant, adaptable environment that supports both current programming and future flexibility. Rather than establishing a fixed theme, the design embraces a timeless, open-ended aesthetic that can evolve with the community’s needs.
Bands of color wrap the space, creating a playful yet cohesive atmosphere, while also helping to organize seating and circulation. A wall of textile colored panels along the south side, adds both visual and tactile interest, offering a layered textural experience. These panels also serve a functional purpose by enhancing acoustics.
Natural and artificial lighting were carefully considered to ensure the space remains inviting and bright, while still supporting multimedia use, such as storytime presentations and toddler programming. Sliding glass doors connect to an adjacent room, providing a flexible transition space that can be used independently or opened up to expand the main area as needed.
